In the RYM community we call this Shredwave: http://synthwavestyles.blogspot.com/2018/04/shredwave.html

> Dark times are ahead. The future is chrome.

Nothing strikes fear into my heart like this does.

Reminds me of that one Spongebob episode where everything was chrome.

I was thinking more Fury Road myself.

I think you need to think of the bigger picture.

If there were no outlet to purchase books, very few people would want to write books because libraries couldn't replace the revenue stream from booksellers.

Libraries benefit from booksellers and vice versa.

background: I'm the partner of a librarian who's also a writer.

That’s a no go for me.

What? This is literally just Apple Notes for code snippets. What’s the confusion?

This is such good advice.

As the saying goes:

'If you are the smartest person in the room, then you are in the wrong room.'

Corollary: Someone in the room is in the wrong room.

I think this objection can be countered by completing the quote “if your goal is to learn and grow as quickly as possible.”

Maybe the smartest person already did that, and is now more interested in cashing in / mentoring / a quiet life etc.

Yes. It was tongue in cheek. Another objection is that smartness isn’t an ordering. You could be the best person in the room at something but still learn on other things.

Corollary to Corollary: no two people can be equally smart

Corollary. It is wrong to be alone in a room.

I agree, aaand disagree to this. If you're not attached to the product/service/code base you can leave quite easily, but if not you should stay and shape the future of it.

I do enjoy myNoise, but I find their mobile apps to be usability headaches a lot of the time.

Just use the website. Add it to the home screen (on Android) and it functions like an app. The only downside is that it requires Internet to load the noise generator.

Stephane Pigeon of myNoise.net made the website himself, but hired out the app development.

>DO THEY HAVE ADDONS OR PLUGINS INSTALLED WHICH INJECT SCRIPT OR ALTER THE DOM IN WAYS YOU DIDN'T ANTICIPATE?

Every news site has an answer to this.

Speaking of RA, I thoroughly enjoyed the latest podcast with a mix from Aïsha Devi.
