I have an Asus G75 and I will never buy any hardware from Asus again. I rarely used that thing, basically once or twice per month yet the battery died after just a few years, then the keyboard, then the screen, and it weighs a ton too.
It's mostly to give you an idea on amenities. Like a 1 star campsite will have Turkish toilets and showers; three stars you'll find swimming pools and mini golf courses. Prices for the night usually correlate with stars in an upward trajectory.
5 days without a resupply is not bad at all. What about camping? Someone here said you are not allowed to pitch your tent on the trail. That would make the whole thing expensive and a logistical nightmare.
Western Canada alone is absolutely stunning and wild af. You won't find a wilderness like that anywhere in Europe anymore. It's not for the faint of heart at all. While I am a pretty experienced backpacker I stayed away from most remote areas in western Canada. Even a day trip would take me on a peak that would be hiked just a few times per year. Zero cell service too.
And then you quickly determine how horrible an idea it is. It allows people who are completely unprepared to hike in difficult terrain. They get in trouble and then call for help putting the mountain rescue people in danger. There are dozens of rescue missions like this every year in the Tatra mountains.
There is none. I was on Ubuntu and one day decided to give opensuse a try. Not everything works out of the box on my laptop eg to get screen dimming I had to download some extra drivers and edit grub config. On Ubuntu you can quickly find instructions how to fix it. On opensuse you're on your own. After fumbling around with config files for a few days went back to Ubuntu.
Funny thing is almost everyone and their dog in Britain thinks BBC has been controlled by the Tories. I've not seen any evidence of CBC being overwhelmed by lefties either. People on the left size of the political spectrum constantly moan about CBC having too many conservative commentators and such.
Yeah I have never followed him much at all but my gut feeling about him pretty much agrees with you. Still no one is perfect and I think he was a better than average politician among his peers. I think one of his problems was that in an era of tea party and trumpism taking over the republican party he had no hope there. His best bet in politics was probably running for Senate but I suspect he was more ambitious than that.
