Wasn't there something about how the LIDAR in self-driving cars destroys camera sensors?

Now to find a way to make 1550nm lidar glasses to burn out any cameras pointed directly at your face

It did, took only a few weeks iirc.

Can we have hardware ray tracing for emojis?

And why is there still no standard way to embed audio tracks into fonts? Each Unicode character deserves a sound! And Rick Astley needs to be heard more often...

Agreed. Do the kids even still know about him?

Any platform that introduces hardware ray tracing for the first time will do so for the sake of emojis.

Or `uv venv`, `uv pip install` for a free, pretty extreme speedup. https://github.com/astral-sh/uv/

To save 4 seconds when installing dependencies?

My work saw a 5x speedup (~2min to ~20s) with a cold cache and like 200-500x (~20s to <0.1s) with a hot cache in our CI pipelines when we switched to uv.

> I suppose one advantage of doing the former is that you might be able to directly bind mount it into an LXC container rather than using loopback SMB/NFS/9p, right?

Yep, I do this and it's very simple to give LXCs access to parts of my storage array.
