The numbers look really odd with scotch and bourbon being down but the whiskey industry itself being slightly up. I'd guess more people are drinking local brands with no tariffs. That makes a down affect for the countries that were exporting.

I have to disagree, AMP showed that even Google had an internal conflict with the results of WHATWG.. It's naturally quite hard to reach agreements on a subset when many parties will prefer to go backwards to everything but there situations like the first iPhone, ebooks, TV browsing, etc, where normal people buy simpler things and groups that use the simpler subset achieve more in total than those stuck in the complex only format.

(There are even a lot of developers who would inherently drop any feature usage as soon as you can get 10% of users to bring down their stats on caniuse.com to bellow ~90%.)

Unpaid the great generation for the work they did. Do newer generations deserve payment for theft (squandering investments, privatizing, destroying education and safety nets)?

Mostly..

App migrations that may fail and need a rollback have the problem that you may not be allowed to wipe any transactions so you may want to be putting data to a parallel world that didn't migrate.

This is why migrations are supposed to be backwards compatible

You can certainly bet you followed that advice correctly, now what are the odds you could test a what-if like that in sufficient depth?

Sorry but 1000 jobs sounds tiny to me.. Probably more people die jim beam related deaths or at least have major related health issues in any given year.

Pretty funny stuff. The democrats want to be angry about any job loss and the Republicans especially love the negative externality businesses so no one wants to consider the weight of the good in ruining Jim Beam?

I personally think Trump has a lot more in common with Maduro than he would like to advertise. He was essentially from the social left but realized the right is more gullible.

Sure but you basically need a different ecosystem to bring in a popular package and not expect to end up with these trivial libraries indirectly through some of the dependencies.

I think its getting clearer that much of the cloud uptime/safety has been luck and a lack of true hostility. If China were in a posture like the hermit state it would have deleted Microsoft cloud data wholesale and the US based firm would have focused it's energy on restoring its priority customers. I wouldn't bank on the US not getting that hostility out of China in the next 3 years.

I've not really seen that much of a problem with Linux drivers being available recently while the quality problem of windows drivers being unreviewed code seems like its partly addressed for central monopolies but still in the peripherals if you'll pardon the pun.

Orange is the new tan?

Don't most people who take supplements just take 10X the RDA? It is still a tiny amount of supplement that is safer and costs a fraction of the indoor tanning or traveling often to somewhere with adequate Sun.

I’ve never talked to someone supplementing vitamin D who was aware at all.

I think that the correct approach would be start at 10x vitamin D with baseline bloodwork and adjust dosage from there.

But yeah I’m in the camp of “sun is good for you, in most cases.” I would be very unsurprised to find that there are precursor hormones released beyond vitamin D that impact efficacy. We don’t really understand the endocrine system very well.

I think that because we can see and understand the dermatological effects we overly weight them. Anecdotally older people I know who have not avoided the sun seem much better off mentally and physically, but I think because there isn’t a measurable reason we’re aware of, we completely discount any benefit.
