From the article:

> State troopers who found Paxton’s body in his overturned and partially submerged truck had said there were no barriers or warning signs along the washed-out roadway

Also from the article:

> The North Carolina State Patrol had said the bridge was not maintained by local or state officials, and the original developer’s company had dissolved. The lawsuit names several private property management companies that it claims are responsible for the bridge and the adjoining land.

⇒ I think it’s quite possible that the authorities never put up "Road Closed" barricades there. It wasn’t their bridge and, presumably, the last stretch of road leading to it wasn’t their road. Or do I think too low of the authorities in the USA?

That is who you sue. The people who did not bother to set up road closed or bridge out signs / barricades.

Except in the case where the judges are getting kickbacks from the private prisons in exchange for harsh sentences.

That's not the norm though. The norm is self-righteous bureaucrats, who are worried they will be seen as weak on crime, or actually want to be even harsher than their constituents. There's scores of judges and legislators that feel this way. Most of the rest of them don't have the guts to stand up to them.

Is it an official Rubik's one or some other brand? I've got about 15 of them (Mostly from QiYi and GAN) and all of them have the yellow/white opposite. Of course they're all made within the last 5 years so maybe it changed at some point.

I'm also running iOS5b3 and it crashes on just about everything. Stream, Pics, Circles, Profile.

Yep, same here using iOS5 beta 3. Crashes when I try to look at my stream or profile.

My Safari crashes so often on iOS5b3 that I'm not even expecting any other app to work properly :(. Now I fully understand why Apple doesn't recommend to use betas on 'production' systems.

Yes, when they say "Beta" they mean it.

I'm still running 4.3.x and it crashes sometimes on the Stream (but works sometimes too).

No doubt an update is forthcoming. :-)

No doubt an update is forthcoming. :-)

Hopefully that doesn't mean waiting another 3 weeks for Apples approval.

I installed the app this morning and then an update in the afternoon. I'd say the speed of new releases is quite aggressive.

I believe the only thing that survived each remake is probably the strippers.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. I have become unable to stop the plane while on the ground. What I'm going to have everybody do is form a queue at the emergency exits, and as I go down the tarmac two or three of you jump into the gate…"

My favorite part of the old article was

The findings are false-positive proof since I have used the tool that discovered it for six years now and I am yet to see it misidentify an item throughout the years.

How essential to your success do you feel the freemium model was?

I don't know that I'd classify us as a traditional freemium offering. The only difference between the free and paid accounts is privacy. In any case, this has worked out extremely well for us. In exchange for free access to the site for open source we get a tremendous amount of exposure. In essence we are trading free accounts for free advertising. I think this approach has been critical to the rate of our growth, both for free and paid accounts.

Virality couples well with certain types of freemium models, as long as you're getting significant exposure from the free accounts to make the cost worthwhile.

I think they're having DNS problems right now.

Yeah, they are. We moved our app to our own domain for the time being.
