Looks like they logged in the first time in years to make a post https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46975123

And decided to jump in on some threads just as well.

That post happened six hours after the comments. Doesn’t seem plausible they logged in to do it then got distracted.

Yeah I think the meritocracy pushed by America is at least in part responsible for this. Social validation for being a high-performing employee is much greater, than for being a member of the community.

It's not an either/or choice for nearly anybody.

There are plenty of volunteers at community events in my area that have prestigious jobs, and the strivers working to maximize opportunities for themselves actually seek these out as another opportunity for accolades and networking.

You just need to find people who actually have an interest in their community. You know who those people often are? Parents. I suspect the decline in birth rates, especially in urban areas, amplifies this in both directions.

"You don't understand everything, ergo you should build more things you don't understand and be okay with it."

This is a bad take.

> If you spend a couple of years with an LLM really watching and understanding what it’s doing and learning from mistakes, then you can get up the ladder very quickly.

I don't feel like most providers keep a model for more than 2 years. GPT-4o got deprecated in 1.5 years. Are we expecting coding models to stay stable for longer time horizons?

They are starting to sound less like a frontier AI lab, and more like a consultancy staffed with AI agents.

Surely hit a nerve.

Saas companies will survive for the same reason they do today. The operational overhead of any sufficiently complicated piece of software is too much, even more so if it's vibe coded.

The bus factor is gonna be pretty high if your enterprise relies on an internal tool that some guy at your company vibe coded at some point.

Bus factor would be 0 because even he wont be able to debug it.

This was true pre-AI, but now, the bus factor is actually way lower in any software than it was before:

- Hey Claude, what is the project in XXXXX/ about and how does it work ? What should be improved there ?

Or even better:

$opencode

/init

Wait 20 second, then describe the bug.

AGENTS.md seems to exist not just to save tokens, but also so the Bus has to do overtime Isekaing people before a company goes down.

Most of us are very well aware of Tesla's shortcomings with FSD and inflated valuations.

But electrek's reporting is biased and in bad faith when it comes to Tesla/Musk.

A recent iSeeCars study that found that Tesla as a brand had the highest fatal crash rate in the US

I can never understand why it is so eager to generate walls of text. I have instructions to always keep the response precise and to the point. It almost seem like it wants to overwhelm you, so you give up and do your own research.

I guess I am in the minority but I really liked the dash cart. Apart from the occasional niggle, it worked as advertised once I understood the system. I get my own bags to the store, so I can directly bag items as I go and just walk out when done.
