Yes, the whole app will be Linux Mobile ready soonish, but priority was to have the main screen first and get everything ready in-time for Debian stable inclusion
Calls are also a very nice feature independent of the pandemic, so I don't think that's an issue ;)
Besides that, the post says that there'll be 1:1 calls in a few months already.
As you said: Gajim does lots and lots of things, some of it only half-works. Gajim might be good for some people, but confusing for others. I probably wouldn't recommend it to my mom.
Dino has a good feature set and the user interface feels nice. It doesn't do everything, but that can also be a positive thing.
Dino's OMEMO works fine for me.
