I look for two things when I'm interviewing someone for a developer position. One, can they think logically enough to write a couple simple example problems in code (fizzbuzz level stuff). And two, do they clam up or try to bullshit me when they don't know the answer to a question, or do they just admit they don't know it. For me, just being able to comfortably say you don't know how to answer my question means you are humble enough to work on my team.
I am humble. (Ironic, perhaps.) But I would almost certainly fail that question about "who have you learned the most from", if they're looking for an answer like, "my childhood bus driver".
My answer would be, "I'm not even sure I could say if I had a day to think about it. They're spread all over the place, and the majority of them since I left school are authors who've never met me or functionally anonymous people online."
I still do learn through emulation (albeit not like I used to when I was still an adult-in-formation) but it's not especially focused on any one person.
