Alas, the people most willing to draw bold conclusions from science also put the least effort into being scientific.
Ted Cruz is a good example. He argues that he's a scientist not because he has done science, but because his parents have done science. Thus, he's a "legacy" scientist, and because they emanate from him, his arguments must be scientific.
The man isn't this stupid. But in endorsing such nonsense, his supporters are willing to be. "We don't need no stinkin facts!"
How can reason hope to overcome willful illogic of this magnitude?
