Imagine android tv disabling atmos because of licensing or netflix, then using the new format which needs a new receiver.

I spent 2k on mine for atmos 4 ceiling speakers..

Why would they disable Atmos?

By the time that happens dolby would have the next iteration of atmos and you'll have to get a new receiver. This is the sad truth about modern consumer electronics, very short life span.
