Through Google Fonts, they can track page views under the guise of beautiful fonts for your site. I wonder if they could do the same with these media formats.
Which is why you should self-host all the fonts you use, which is incidentally also what you need to do to be GDPR-compliant. Its not the fonts that are the problem here its the font CDN.
