This is an interesting Dutch film [1] about the same era, a biopic of Michiel de Ruyter. Great sea battle scenes, interesting character studies, and a shocking look into the price of turn of political fortunes in 17th century Netherlands, plus some glances into the everyday lives of the upper classes and aristrocrasy of that general area.
IMO, this is probably one of the most decisive couple of decades in modern European and world history, right after the disaster that befell Spanish armada off English shores. This is where modern forms of economy and governance of an emerging elite, multi-national mercantilism and banking (i.e. pre-industrial Capitalism), managed to survive the first existential encounter with existing establishment (Church and kings). After this, Britain was 'liberated' via The Glorious Revolution.
An interesting angle afforded by this historic lens is viewing the phenomena of Napoleon as the first alternative socio-political narrative against what we can call proto-Liberalism of the capitalist, mainly represented by Britain among the nations (while still sporting a tamed monarch). This was visionary authoritarian central planning, first springing from the brow of a genius Corsican, and then guided by the words of political economists and philosophers.

This conflict is on-going.
