Neon Signs Are Glowing Strong in Seattle (seattlemet.com)

The amusing irony is that the iconic "Uncle Ike's" sign featured in this article is not attached to the famous pot shop and does not technically refer to it, because that would be illegal: the state initiative legalizing cannabis sales imposed many limits on advertising, including a cap on the number and size of the signs a store may display.

No matter: "Uncle Ike's" owner Ian Eisenberg simply bought a second building on the same corner and launched a non-cannabis-related business using the same brand name. Now he can post as many glowing signs as big as he likes, advertising his (wink-wink-nudge-nudge) liquor store, while the pot shop, with its demurely regulated signage, sits just across the parking lot in the back.
