It's the Chinese Exclusion Act, not Expulsion. Though it did create some excuses to expel Chinese already living here.

The next year, Emma Lazarus wrote "Give me your tired, your poor..." for the Statue of Liberty. So the poem was a lie even before it was written down.


Thought-provoking article. Why on earth did NPR wait until after the 2024 election to publish this?


Maybe they didn’t think Trump would win? But yeah, those who don’t know the history are doomed to repeat it.
