Like anything, universities provide a service. That service, for me currently, is getting a degree afterwards. If that service ceases, my interest in the university ceases. If the cost of such a degree is larger than money I would expect to earn over a certain period, my interest in the university ceases.
I know that people in other countries (I'm from Europe) have absolutely different opinions, which the author does point out, I still feel like going into debt for hundreds of thousands of dollars for something that is not worth it may not be.. smart.
