If you're expecting only what you're saying, you'll find yourself simultaneously disappointed at how low the uptake is in the real world and how many major implementations (e.g. Apple) have a vastly different security model.

Absolutely. The problem with narrowly targeted security measures is they are a poor fit for nearly everything.
