He's not his father, but his father's legacy has aspects which are worth reflecting on. In order for the 1979 revolution to succeed, the Pahlavi years had to reach a nadir for violence, corruption and indefensible governance of their people.


Thank you. I nearly posted the exact same link when I submitted this video, because the interview sugarcoats that. I decided against it because I like what I have seen of Reza Pahlavi so far, and didn't want to suggest otherwise.

Fair. I suspect it's impossible for a Pahlavi to be a unifying figure, but stranger things have happened.

This is a repost, since there's a real possibility Pahlavi will be in charge of Iran this year.

What credentials does he have? Never ever worked in his life. Lived of what the family "gained/grabbed" while in power. It would simply mean to replace one bad leadership with another. But the young generation doesn't remember, of course.

(a) He has legitimacy in the eyes of the public, which decreases the chance of civil war

(b) He's not religious fanatic

(c) He has publicly advocated for liberal democracy for several decades
